2009 ECRC Awake My Soul Spiritual Concert

Michigan, USA - St. Joseph Chaldean Church in Troy, Michigan will host the 2009 ECRC Awaken My Soul Spiritual Concert. 

Part I of the two day concert begins on Friday, September 26 at the campus of St. Joseph.  Part II begins the very next day. 

The concert will feature top America Christian bands along with internationaly renowned Arabic Chrisitan singers like Tony Melendez on Friday and Nabiha Yezbeck on Saturday, Middle Eastern food, theater performances, 24 hour confessions, faith filled workshops, spiritual gifts, and more. 

There will be something fantastic for everyone of all ages.  Tickets can be purchased from any Chaldean church in Michigan or by visiting www.ecrc.us.

Welcome to the 2008-09 season at the Eastern Catholic Re-evangelization Center [E.C.R.C]!

We are blessed at ECRC to offer you a fresh start.   As we continue to walk side by side in our spiritual journey, we learn together in the joy of fellowship.  If you have been with us, or you are new to our programs, we invite you to step in.  We are joyfully waiting for you!!

Although we took a break throughout the summer months from weekly classes and monthly programs, we were not lazy! 

Many were blessed by Vacation Bible School summer camp.  The camp was attended by 180 kids and made possible by over 80 dedicated volunteers. 

The young adults of our community participated in two Kairos retreats; one for the 18-24 age group and another for the 25-30 age group.  

New friendships were made and the faith of all was nourished and ignited during World Youth Day in Sydney , Australia; It was a fruitful summer indeed! 

The mission of Re-evangelization is our goal from the beginning!  Our offerings provide food for our spiritual journey. 

Weekly study programs include Journey Through the Bible, Bible Study in English and Arabic, and Theology classes in which we explore the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Sacred Scriptures.  Experience any of the programs and discover the richness, beauty and treasure of our Catholic Faith, in both English and Arabic languages.

This year E.C.R.C is very excited to bring you a new concept of learning – workshops.  A workshop is a series of educational sessions.  Small groups of people meet together over a short period of time to concentrate on a defined area of interest. 

The first workshop will be presented by His Excellency Bishop Ibrahim Ibrahim who will be with us for four weeks beginning Oct. 1st to take us on a journey through the history of the Chaldean Church .  

To help us celebrate The Year of St. Paul – designated from June 2008 – June 2009, Dr. Martin Brenner will lead us beginning Oct. 2nd   In the Foot steps of St. Paul. 

Upcoming workshops throughout the year include: Apologetics, Bible Characters, and Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women [ENDOW] Program. 

Parents – we invite you!  Bring the youth to be part of building a faith based community.  The whole family will be nourished by the Truths of our faith so we can lead a life filled with the Lord’s precepts. 

High school and junior high students are invited to participate in the Chaldeans Loving Christ [CLC] Program held weekly at St.  Thomas.

Our weekly Eucharistic Adoration and Mass is vital to our mission.  We are committed to bring our labor to Him so we can be encouraged in our work for the Glory of His name. 

Don’t miss our second Spiritual Conference “Awake My Soul 2008” at St. Joseph Church on September 26 & 27. Both nights will be concluded with spiritual concerts performed by Tony Melendez [in English] on Friday and Nabiha Yezbeck [in Arabic] on Saturday. Get tickets and bring the whole family!!

With more than 20 programs annually, E.C.R.C is blessed with committed, zealous lay people who oversee all these activities.  I ask you to join us in prayer for their love and dedication to evangelize. This work of God is rooted to bring souls to Christ with their “Yes!”

Rev. Emanuel Shaleta 
Rev. Emanuel Hana Isho Shaleta was born in the village of Peshabur in northern Iraq. After completing his primary education he applied and was admitted in September 1971, to the illustrious St. John Seminary in Mosul, Iraq. In 1977 Rev. Shaleta was awarded a scholarship to study philosophy and theology in the renowned Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome. There he obtained a Ph.D. in Biblical Theology. 
 
The reverends impressive work earned him the honor to be ordained to the priesthood by the hands of Pope John Paul II, in St. Peter Basilica in Rome on May 31, 1984. 
 
On June 3, 1987, Fr. Shaleta was assigned to serve as pastor for St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Catholic Church in North Hollywood, California, where he served for just about a decade and a half. 
 
In December 2000, Fr. Shaleta was called to assist St. Jospeh Catholic Chaldean Church in Troy, Michigan and shortly thereafter was appointed pastor in 2002. Fr. Shaleta’s impressive leadership merited a unanimous appointment as the first pastor of St. George Chaldean Catholic Church, in Shelby Twp. Michigan, billed as the largest Chaldean church in the world. Fr. Shaleta continues to this day to impressively lead the faithful and offer wonderful opportunities and service to the community. 
 
Rev. Basel Yaldo
 
Rev. Basel Yaldo was born in Telkaif, Iraq in 1970. Rev. Yaldo graduated from the National Teachers College in Iraq in 1989 and was drafted in the army in 1990. In 1993, he was honorably discharged for his service. A year later Rev. Yaldo was admitted to Babel College in Baghdad to study philosophy and theology. There Fr. Yaldo, received a scholarship to study in Rome at Urban College, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in theology in 2001. 
 
On November 23, 2002, Fr. Yaldo was ordained a priest by His Excellency Bishop Ibrahim N. Ibrahim, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Thomas the Apostle for the Chaldeans. Fr. Yaldo continued his studies whereby he completed a masters degree in Dogmatic Theology with a focus on Marian studies from Urban College in 2003. 
 
The following year he was appointed assistant director of the seminary in the Dora district of Baghdad, and taught Dogmatic Theology at Babel College. His commanding leadership and steadfast skills earned him the secretarial appointment to Patriarch Emanuel III Delly. Upon completion of his duties as patriarchal secretary, Fr. Yaldo was nominated and selected as assistant pastor to St. George Chaldean Catholic Church Shelby Township, Michigan.
