Chaldean Education and Career Center Invites Chaldean and non-Chaldean Teachers to Cultural Workshop for SEU Credits

Michigan, USA – The Chaldean Education and Career Center (CE&CC) shares with the Chaldean community middle and high school teachers a wonderful opportunity.  Wayne State University is once again, hosting a Teachers Cultural Awareness Summer Workshop which focuses on Middle Eastern Culture, Arabic Language, and the Intelligence Community. 

This 6-week workshop begins on June 30, 2009 and ends on August 6, 2009.  The class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.  Chaldean teachers wishing to participate will be able to do so free of charge and will earn 2.7 SB-CEU Credits.    Non-Chaldean teachers are also invited and will have all associated fees waived upon acceptance of application.

  • Chaldean teachers will have all books and materials provided by WSU.
  • This is a no-credit course; you do not have to be enrolled in WSU to participate.
  • 2.7  SB-CEU Credits
  • Interview required
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • U.S. Citizen
    • Any middle or high school teacher
    • Willing to complete the 6-week course
    • Sincere interest in learning about the Arabic Language, Middle Eastern Culture, and the Intelligence Community.

The Teachers Cultural Awareness Workshop is sponsored by the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) in National Security Intelligence Studies and supported by the Chaldean Education and Career Center. 

The Center for Academic Excellence in National Security Intelligence Studies was recently established at Wayne State University, with a renewable grant from the U.S Intelligence Community.

This is a new initiative in the College of Engineering.  The workshop will focus on providing Middle Eastern Language with emphasis on Arabic Instructional seminars for middle school and high school teachers.  Additionally, the workshop is designed to provide an overview of the Intelligence Community and national security issues.  Although, the program is based in the College of Engineering , students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate.
